Itinerary Details

Day 1: Arrival Chandigarh - Narkanda


•    Pick-up: From Chandigarh, drive to Narkanda.
•    Distance: Approximately 7-8 hours (around 180-200 km).
•    Activities: Relax after the journey, enjoy the scenic beauty of Narkanda, explore local surroundings, and visit the Hatu Peak if time permits.
•    Overnight Stay: Narkanda.


Day 2: Narkanda - Sangla


•    Morning: Have breakfast and head towards Sangla.
•    Distance: Approximately 8-9 hours (around 220-240 km).
•    Activities: Arrive at Sangla, visit the picturesque Sangla Valley, enjoy the beauty of the Baspa River, and explore nearby villages.
•    Overnight Stay: Sangla.


Day 3 :Sangla- Chitkul- Sangla


After breakfast, explore the vicinity including an ancient Kamru Fort&Temple dedicated to the Goddess Kamakhya Devi which was brought from Assam & Nages God. Post Lunch, excursion to Chitkul – a last Village on Old Indo – Tibetan Trade Route. Walk through green orchards & brilliant streams. Return back to Sangla for Dinner & Overnight stay at the hotel.
 
Day 4: Sangla - Tabo


Morning after breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Tabo. On the way visit Nako. Nako has a beautiful lake which freezes in the winter and villagers play ice hockey during this period and see the temple of Padmasambhava, the second incarnation of lord Buddha who made Buddhism popular in the Trans Himalayas. The day has a surprise where a visit to the village of 5oo years old mummy makes your journey exciting. Later drive to Tabo. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 5 : Tabo – Kaza (106 km/4 hours)


After breakfast the journey starts to witness the Ajanta of Himalayas, the Tabo monastery. Tabo has the oldest caves on barren mountains and Thangka paintings, one of the most precious paintings of Buddhism. Overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 6: Kaza – Local Sightseeing


After breakfast we will do a full day excursion to Ki, Kibber, Hikkim, Komic & Langza village. While driving back to Kaza, I will stop at Kye Monastery. Kye Monastery – The learning centre of Buddhism. Evening return back to Kaza, Dinner & overnight at Kaza.


Day 7: Kaza - Kalpa


•    Morning: Have breakfast and start your journey towards Kalpa.
•    Distance: 6-7 hours (around 150-170 km).
•    Activities: Explore Kalpa, which offers amazing views of Kinnaur Kailash and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this quaint village.
•    Overnight Stay: Kalpa.


Day 8: Kalpa - Shimla


•    Morning: After breakfast, drive to Shimla.
•    Distance: 6-7 hours (around 210-230 km).
•    Activities: Explore the colonial charm of Shimla, walk on the Mall Road, and other popular spots.
•    Overnight Stay: Shimla.


Day 9: Chandigarh Departure


Depending on your departure time, you can enjoy a bit more of Shimla before heading back.This plan gives you a good balance of travel time and exploration. Make sure to check road conditions and allow some flexibility, especially in the mountainous regions.
